In the third round of Serie A, Juventus faced Inter Milan at home. In the 14th minute of the first half, Juventus defender Kelly took the lead to break the deadlock and helped the team gain a 1-0 lead.
According to Opta statistics, Kelly became the only second English player to score in the Serie A match between Juventus and Inter Milan. The only one before was Gerald Hitchens, who scored one goal in the first and second leg for Inter in the 1961/62 season.
