Marca: Burnley boss leads the consortium to finalize the acquisition of Espanyol, which may reach 200 million euros

According to the Marca, Velocity Sport Partners (VSP), an investment fund led by entrepreneur Allen Pace, is finalizing a deal to acquire a majority stake in the Spaniard, which could be as much as 200 million euros. The deal is one of the most ambitious moves in Spanish football in recent years and will almost completely change the shareholder structure of the La Liga club.

After more than three months of intense work, Pace and his team successfully completed due diligence, conducted a detailed review of the accounts, contracts and internal structure of the Espanyol Club, and were preparing to take over more than 99% of the club's shares. VSP initially invested €180 million, but the agreement also includes incentives related to performance and sports goals, with the final amount likely to reach €200 million. VSP will head to Barcelona next week to sign a final contract to kick off a new chapter in Espanyol, and one of their top priorities will be to discuss how to strengthen the roster before the 2025-26 season to ensure they remain in La Liga. The entire process of the acquisition of Espanyol was led by Allen Pace, who is also the owner of the Premier League Burnley. The deal also involved more than two dozen professionals, including VSP employees, external auditors, lawyers and sports consultants. This is a comprehensive and in-depth analysis covering all aspects of the club.

It is worth noting that all negotiations remain at the highest management level, limited to the top management of VSP and the existing owners of the Espanyol Club, without involving club staff. This highlights the strategic and confidentiality of the deal, aiming to fundamentally reshape the club's future. If all goes well, the arrival of VSP will mark a new era for Espanyol Club, who will return to the top ranks of Spanish football with firm determination and solid financial support.
