Official news, Spanish coach Benitez has been appointed as the new coach of Greek team Panathinaikos.
According to a previous report by the Dutch Telegraph, the contract signed by Benitez with Panathinaikos broke the Greek league coach salary record. He will receive an annual salary of 4 million euros, becoming the highest-paid head coach in the history of Greek football.
Benitez is 65 years old and has been out of work since leaving the Celta Vigo coaching position in March last year. Benitez has previously coached giants such as Liverpool, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Naples and Real Madrid, and has many honors, including 2 La Liga championships, 1 Champions League championship, 2 Europa League championships and 1 Club World Cup championship. In addition, Benitez also served as the Dalian coach from 2019 to 2021.
