The official website of Wolves issued an announcement today, announcing the departure of the team captain Semedo.

Announcement

Portuguese fullback joined Wolves in September 2020, and has played in a total of 182 games for Wolves in four years. Although the journey has not been smooth, the defender's position in the team has been rising year by year. During the most difficult period last season, the 31-year-old was appointed as the captain in the face of danger and eventually led the team to successfully relegate.

Semedo has experienced many changes in the Wolves' era - starting his journey from the Nuno era, and has played for four coaches, Bruno Lager, Lopetegui, Gary O'Neal and Vittor Pereira. Due to the epidemic, he joined the team almost empty in the first year, and did not win the Wolves' first goal in front of a limited audience until the final match against Manchester United in the 2020/21 season.

As football returns to normal, Semedo gradually becomes the leader of the locker room. Under Lager's rule, he remained at the main player on the right and was always a regular visitor to the Portuguese national team during this period. In the 2023/24 season, the right-back exploded under O'Neal and was voted as the Player of the Season by his teammates for his outstanding performance throughout the season.

He scored the third goal of the Wolves' career against Brentford in the FA Cup, and then helped the team eliminate West Brom away in the "Black Country Derbies" - a victory that has been talked about by Wolves fans so far.

When Pereira took office and needed locker room leader, Semedo stepped forward again. As the on-field commander, he led the team to a strong rebound of six consecutive victories in the second half of the season. In the farewell battle against Brentford in May this year, his emotional farewell in front of the stands gave a perfect end to his four-year Wolves career: we succeeded in relegation again, and this loyal fighter also fulfilled his mission.

Semedo came to Wolves from Barcelona for 32 million euros in September 2020, making 182 appearances for the team, scoring 3 goals and 11 assists.
