Paris has reached the Club World Cup final and will compete with Chelsea on Sunday. French media RMC reported that the Paris players' holiday will start next Monday and the team is expected to gather on August 4.
Paris will compete with Chelsea for the Club World Cup championship on Sunday night, and Enrique's side will enjoy a three-week holiday starting next Monday. According to the collective agreement of the French Professional Football League (LFP) charter, professional players must be guaranteed to take leave for 18 consecutive working days.
This regulation is strictly supervised by the French Professional Players' Union (UNFP), and union president David Trier told RMCsport: "Paris Saint-Germain complies with the three-week holiday rule. At this point, there is no problem. The only problem that may arise is how the team prepares for the Super Cup. But this falls into another category and is not a matter that UNFP will handle."
According to RMCsport, unless there is a last-minute change, Paris' summer preparation training will start on Monday, August 4, which will be used for physical examinations, and players will return to the training ground the next day on August 5.
Such a schedule means Paris will have less than ten days to prepare for the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham on August 13. As for whether such a short preparation period is enough to make them perform well in the new Ligue 1 debut against Nantes on August 17, it remains to be seen.
