A total of 51,059 people gathered at the San Mames Stadium to watch the Champions League match between Bilbao and Arsenal. According to statistics, Bilbao's home stadium can currently accommodate 53,331 spectators, so it is almost full. At the beginning of the game, Bilbao President Jon Uriat proposed that the club is considering implementing a stadium expansion plan. After confirming that more than 7,000 people are currently waiting for the waitlist to become members of Bilbao, Uriat said: "We will wait and see if major projects are carried out at some point in time and make substantial investments to achieve the expansion of the court. The club is currently tapping the potential of every corner, literally, even the space under the seats."

It is worth mentioning that Uriat's presidential term will end on June 24 next year, and he has not yet publicly stated whether he is seeking re-election.

Regarding the expansion of the San Mames Stadium, Uriat said: "In Bilbao, the waiting list for members always exists, the market demand is strong and the stadium capacity is limited. We currently have a waiting list of more than 7,000 people, and almost every game has set a new seat record, and all tickets are sold out. We are studying the feasibility of increasing seats by digging space under the seats, etc., and will wait and see if major projects are carried out at some point in time and make a lot of investment to achieve the expansion of the stadium, but I do not want to over-examination of this matter. The current priority is to make full use of existing resources."
