ANSA news agency reported that in a local case of illegal gambling on online poker and non-football events in Milan, many players have been investigated, and some of them have submitted the first batch of fine settlement applications, that is, paying a fine of 250 euros to terminate the proceedings.
It is reported that the Procuratorate has received applications from Milan player Ricci, Atalanta player Bellanova, and Juventus goalkeeper Palin.
More applications will be submitted in the coming days and, subject to approval by the prosecutor, the players will pay €250 each to settle the matter. In the Financial Police judicial investigation coordinated by prosecutors Roberta Amadeo and Paolo Filippini, a total of 13 players' names emerged, including Nifacioli, Zaniolo, Tonali, Florenzi and McKennie.
Almost everyone has been accused of participating in illegal gambling, with the exception of Fagioli and Tonali, who were previously involved in the first investigation in Turin and were additionally accused of promoting those illegal platforms to other teammates and others. For both of them, the plea agreement process will be adopted because the charges do not meet the conditions for fine settlement. Other athletes under investigation, such as tennis player Matteo Gigante, can pay fines.
