. According to The Athletic, Real Madrid intends to sign Riverbed star Mastantono, and the club has held talks with Mastantono's agent.

Information revealed that if Mastantono leaves the riverbed, he is more inclined to join Real Madrid. Sources also said Paris Saint-Germain is also interested in the 17-year-old. However, Stefano DiCarlo, a member of the River Plate board, has said that Mastantono will "definitely" stay at the club until the end of the 2025 season. The player's contract contains a 45 million euro termination clause, and the contract is valid until 2026.

Mastantono became the third youngest player in Riverbed history at the age of 16, making his first team debut in January 2024. So far, he has played 61 times for the team and scored 10 goals. The left-footed player mainly moves on the right side of the frontcourt Trident in the Riverbed 433 formation.

In the 2025 game, Mastantono's performance was even more prominent. He has started 19 games for Galado's team in various competitions this year, scoring 7 goals and contributing 4 assists.

Mastantono has Italian descent and holds dual nationalities from Argentina and Italian. He has represented the Argentine national team in the U20 level and is currently preparing for the World Cup with the adult national team.

If Mastantono joins Real Madrid, he will follow in the footsteps of former Argentine striker Higuain, who also transferred from Riverbed to Real Madrid in 2007. Real Madrid's football director Sorari has played for both teams throughout his career, and has also coached Real Madrid's youth team and first team.

It is worth mentioning that Paris Saint-Germain also has contacts with River Plate, and coach Garrado has played for Paris Saint-Germain for a season and a half. Real Madrid and River Plate will both compete in the Club World Cup in the United States this summer, but they won't be able to meet until at least the quarter-finals.
