According to famous reporter Marc Stein, sources revealed that former Nuggets assistant coach Popey Jones will join the Mavericks' coaching staff to assist Kidd.
Jones and Kidd were teammates as players. From 1994 to 1996, the two worked together for two seasons at the Mavericks.
Jones has many years of coaching experience in the league. He has worked as an assistant coach for 7 years at the Pacers, and then served as an assistant coach for 76ers for one year. In 2021, he joined Mike Malone's coaching staff and has been working until now.
